  • How does word choice enhance a story or poem and help the reader connect to the writing?

  • Who is talking in the story? How do we know?

  • How does the ability to identify syllables impact the ability to read?

  • Can you recall some of the most important details from the book/article/lesson?

  • How does identifying these important details help you to remember a story/text?

  • What is the author trying to tell you in this story?  What is the “big idea”?

  • How does taking suggestions from others and adding details to your writing, make your writing better?
